SkillPath SkillTips: How Do You Overcome Remote Working Challenges
Katie Parrish, Editorial Director at SkillPath
UPDATE: This article has been updated from its original publishing date of April 3, 2020.
It’s been two full years since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and many of us have settled into a work-from-home routine or some version of hybrid. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t times when we still feel lonely or disconnected. We see colleagues less often or some, not at all. When we are in the office, the break room is noticeably empty.
In this SkillTip video, Teri Beckman, director of eLearning solutions at SkillPath, shares her advice on how she has overcome some of the challenges that remote working presents.
1. Establish a start time and an end time. Teri shares, "I have a lot on my plate all the time, and I could literally wake up at 5 am and work until midnight." Her advice? Have a set schedule, so you're not working at all hours of the day.
2. Set up your workplace at home. Another tip from Teri is to work in a location with a door. "Be able to close it, so you're not feeling like you're always at work," she says.
The technology challenges are easy to overcome, she adds, "but that emotional piece is really hard sometimes."
With a majority of businesses now working remotely, online learning platforms like STAR12 make ongoing training and professional development easy and effective. Learn more about SkillPath's all-in-one training solution.
